Abby Mintz - Part 1

Reasons why my sister is better than your sister:

1. She is one of the funniest people, ever.
2. She is a magnet for strange situations.  I seem to remember stories about camels, airport slumber parties, word games at 4am with Ema in Italian hotel rooms, and a recent candlelit dinner with a Turkish cab driver.  Unfortunately, I vaguely remember the story about the camel, other than there was some incident, which brings me to my next point...
3. She remembers everything.  If it wasn't for her memory I would have no history.  For reals.  No childhood, no birthday parties, no family vacations, nothing.  Abby remembers her own history, and mine, including the stories I tell her.  When I first discovered this talent of hers I stopped relying on my failing memory to record my history and started just telling Abby anything I hoped to remember in the future.  This has worked.  I have some pretty awesome stories.  Just ask Abby.
4. She does really good at school.  My little sister has a freakin' Masters degree from Vanderbilt. Does yours?
5. She can shake her booty.  Little Jewish white girl at a southern uppity Ivy League school starts a hip hop team?  Who does that!?
6. She has a wild imagination.  You do, Abby, you do.  I remember one thing from childhood despite what I said three numbers ago.  I remember sitting on the kitchen floor with Barbie dolls, FORCING myself to have fun.  Why?  Because Abby could sit on the floor, any floor, with her legs awkwardly twisted behind her (knees forward, feet by butt), and have a grand ol' time with Malibu Barbie, Nurse Barbie, Mermaid Barbie, Barbie's little sister, and Ken.  I'm talking hours.  Even with my legs twisted in a dangerous yoga position on the floor I still lasted only five minutes, tops, playing with Barbies.  I didn't get it, I don't get it, but Abby gets it.  This is mysterious and amazing to me.

I have to go to bed but I wanted to get this out.  I labeled this post as "Part 1" intending for there to be many chapters to follow.  To be continued....

Warning: This Content Contains Material Not Suitable For Cynics.

Whaaaat!?  Did I actually just join the 21st century and set up a blog?!  It has literally taken me almost a year to finally find the motivation to learn how to do this blogging thing.  Admittedly, I now fully understand our parents' and grandparents' generations hesitan... no - fear of joining the cyber world.  I'm not even bad at computers but there's just always been something about blogs that utterly perplexed me.  Whatever, apparently I'm over it.

I have to thank my little Booger for inspiring me to get this up and going.  Some of you may know her as Abby, Abigail, Abi-goo, Abby Mintz M.Ed, but to me, she will always be my Booger.  I finally read her blog (abby-chapter2.blogspot.com... follow her), and not only was I impressed with how well-spoken she is, but she actually has something to speak about.  Probably much unlike what this blog will turn into, but hey, if you can tolerate reading your 1,017 Facebook friends' daily status updates on what they ate for dinner and how they hate/love/hate/love their boyfriend/girlfriend and why Lebron James is a sell-out and the Cubs continue to be a disappointment (things we all know but really don't need to talk about anymore), then I figure this blog can't be that bad.  Think of it as trendy.  Similar to those of us who can claim we voted for Obama before he was running for President.  Reading my blog now is like your own personal investment into the future granting you the ability to claim: "I read her blog before she became _______ (insert one or more impressive adjectives or nouns here - i.e., "famous", "a rock star", "an Olympian"...)".  I would end this paragraph with the previous sentence but I'm pretty sure Mrs. Bressler taught me not to end a paragraph with a parenthesis, so I'll end it with this sentence.

I have a feeling only a few people will "get" this.  Ema will.  Future blog entries will have a little more insight into the life of an Olympic hopeful, a lot more insight into Capone's daily adventures, and an equal amount of narcissism.  iCan't help it that iWas born into the iGeneration where iBelieve that my daily activities are of utter importance to all my family and friends and friends of family and friends and all of their third cousins twice removed.  iThank Abba and Ema for this.

More later.  :)

Kisses!
